Passage: 'Despite rapid urbanisation, many rural communities in India have preserved their traditional art forms. These art forms, passed down through generations, reflect the values and history of those communities. However, younger generations are increasingly moving to cities in search of employment.'
Question: What can be inferred from the passage?
(A) Traditional art forms will definitely disappear in 10 years.
(B) Urbanisation is the only threat to traditional arts.
(C) The migration of youth may put traditional art forms at risk.
(D) Rural communities have completely rejected modern culture.
STEP 1 — Read the passage carefully.
Key clues: art forms are passed down through generations + younger people are moving to cities.
STEP 2 — Apply ONE-STEP RULE. If young people leave, who will carry the art forward? Logically, the art is at risk.
STEP 3 — Apply ELIMINATION FORMULA.
Option A uses 'definitely' — extreme word, eliminate. Option B uses 'only' — extreme word, eliminate. Option D says 'completely rejected' — passage does not say this, eliminate.
STEP 4 — Option C is the answer.
It is one logical step from the clues. It does not over-infer.

Passage: 'The new education policy encourages students to learn in their mother tongue in early years. Research shows children grasp concepts faster in their first language.
The policy, however, has faced resistance from urban parents who prefer English-medium schooling.'
Question: The passage implies that:
(A) English medium schools will be banned soon.
(B) Urban parents do not care about their children's education.
(C) Learning in the mother tongue may improve early understanding.
(D) The new policy has been accepted by everyone.
STEP 1 — Key clues: children grasp concepts faster in first language + policy encourages mother tongue learning.
STEP 2 — ONE-STEP inference: If children grasp faster in first language, mother tongue learning improves early understanding.
STEP 3 — Eliminate: A is not stated or implied. B is a negative over-inference. D directly contradicts the passage (resistance is mentioned).
ANSWER: C

NUMBER ONE MOST COMMON TRAP STUDENTS FALL INTO
---
TRAP — CHOOSING THE 'DIRECTLY STATED' OPTION
Many students pick the answer that is clearly written in the passage.
That is not an inference — that is a factual question answer. In inference questions, if you can point to a single sentence in the passage that directly says it, that option is a TRAP. The correct inference is always implied, not stated directly.
Always ask yourself: 'Is this written in the passage OR am I logically concluding it?' If it is written directly, skip that option.
